New Hugoware.net Site

with 11 comments

For the longest time now Hugoware.net has basically been the home for jLinq. Lately, I’ve been working on a new version of my site — one that represents all of the stuff I do and not just one of my projects. After working on the site for about a week I’ve updated with a brand new look and grouped all of my projects together into one site.

I’d love to get some feedback — so use the ‘Contact Me’ section to tell me if you think something could be improved.

And of course, there is my Twitter Bird (he’s open source as well :))

There isn’t much to talk about with the new site. Basically it is an ASP.NET MVC site with personal information and projects on it.

However, I’m always interested in hearing feedback. If you think something about the site is missing or could be improved, please let me know!

  1. I like how you have presented your blog content on Hugoware – nice touch. Are you getting the content from RSS feed?

I think this is a good showcase for you projects. Nice job.

    • Thanks a lot man!

Yeah, I’m pulling from some blog/Twitter data sources to keep the info up to date.

Also, since it is shared hosting and I don’t want the site to go to sleep on me, so when the site starts up it creates a thread in the background that makes an HTTP every 5 minutes — it also refreshes the content for the site 🙂

      • DiscountASP.net — They are okay but I’ve never really hunted around for anything else. Suggestions?

  3. Cool site. I’d look at minify/gzip your js & css, Expire dates, doc type. Alot of validation errors, changing to htmltype might fix many of these without too much work; however as your running with wordpress I’m guessing there is not much you can do about them.

Love the graphics and content, wish my blog site looked half as good.

    • I’m glad you mentioned that – I was trying to get the new one out quickly, I didn’t think to go back and polish up those areas — I know what I’m working on today!

      Thanks a lot!

  4. Looks very nice. Did you create all the graphics. Did you use a template at all? Really like it.

    • Thanks! I did it myself – I was going to go an art college in Arizona but then I got interested in programming 🙂

  5. Nice styling!
Would love to use the HTML/CSS template.
    Any change you’ll release it?
